BACHELOR IN JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION (BJMC)

1. OBJECTIVE : To demonstrate elements of media industry and to familliarise them with recent development in mass media to expose them to application of new technology and practices in Journalism in various mass media i.e., print media, electronic, media, internet etc. This will enhance opportunities of absorption in this emerging field.

2. 2. ELIGIBILITY : : 45% marks from a recognized Board including Madarsa Education Board/Bihar Intermediate Examination (+2) in Arts/Science/Commerce.

3. 3. DURATION : Duration is Three years. Annual examination will be conducted at end of each academic year.

4. Course Structure: A candidate for the BJMC examination shall be required to offer the following subject and will be examined in 18 papers according to the following curriculum.

1st Year 1. Introduction to Journalism and Mass Communication.

           2. Reporting and Editing I.

           3. Writing for Mass Media

           4. Indian Government and Politics and International Relations.

Subsidiary paper I Economics

Subsidiary Paper II Computer Application for Mass Media.


2nd Year 5. Introduction to Audio-Visual Media.

           6. Reporting and Editing-II

           7. Advertising

           8. Public relations & Corporate Communications

Subsidiary Paper I Economic Development and Planning in India.

Subsidiary Paper II Entrepreneurship Development Programme.

After the 2nd year Annual Examination ,each student shall undergo a practical training of 8 weeks duration in an approved newspaper/Magazine/publishing House/Business/Industrial/service organization and submit at least two copies of the Summer training report to the head of the Department at least 15 days before the date of commencement of the Final Year Examinations. The Summer training Report shall carry 100 marks and it shall be evaluated for 60 marks, and 40 marks shall be awarded on the basis of their internal assessment.

           13. Development Communication

           14. Project Report.

Mode of Examination : The University will hold Examination at the end the First, Second and the Third year of the course to be known respectively as BJMC Honours Part-I,II and Part-III Examination.
